5 Reasons You Should Use Multiple Social Networks

It may seem like there are countless social networks in use today, some of which you wouldn’t even consider using. In this post, we want to convince you otherwise, and demonstrate why promoting yourself (or a brand) on multiple platforms is crucial. In doing so, we also prove the need for you to use Compiled.Social! 😉

You’re missing out on different audiences

It isn’t difficult to understand this: different people use different social networks. You could be missing out on a huge segment of your following if you don’t branch out. There’s really no harm in doing so, either.

social networks

It’s important to understand different post types

Typically: Instagram is for images, Facebook is for longer text posts, Twitter is for shorter text posts, YouTube is for videos etc… It is a statistical fact that if you post images that contain a large amount of text on Instagram, that post is unlikely to do so well. Some networks also restrict the length/size of the content you are allowed to post. Find ways to promote through all the different mediums on different networks.

social media

Your pages have a better chance of survival

As sad as it may be: some networks fade away and die. Despite MySpace and Vine being massively popular for their time, they were somewhat short-lived. Imagine if “viners” hadn’t expanded into YouTube and other platforms (which we’re sure was sometimes the case) – they would have potentially lost a huge following that they’d spent a long time working for. Don’t be that person who trusts in just one network!

It’s much easier for people to contact you

Nowadays customer service is paramount for any brand/personality. E-mails just don’t do the trick anymore – instead let followers contact you anytime, anywhere. Even better, set-up instant replies on Facebook to let them know you’ve received their message. They’ll also be able to see your average page response time (which you should keep high!).

The more content you have, the better search ranking you will have

This reason is the icing on the cake. Anybody who has basic knowledge of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) understands that more content = more search results. Creating accounts on multiple networks, and publishing great quality content, also benefits you in the battleground of search rankings. Claim your spot at the top!

social media

Admittedly, social media can be very difficult and time-consuming to get right. As a start-up, even we struggle with this! However, we can say with certainty that it’s worthwhile branching out to different networks.

Why should I have multiple links in my Instagram bio?

Why is having multiple links in an Instagram bio, or elsewhere, useful? Where is the benefit in the first place?
We’ve curated a useful list to help answer that question.
Compile multiple links into one today:

  • Makes your Instagram profile look nicer – nobody likes to read “FB: username, Twitter: username…” and so on, in your bio. In reality, very few people will open an app and search for your other profiles. Give them a quick link instead!
  • A Compiled page doesn’t just direct a customer/follower to where they were intending to go, it also advertises all of your other links (that they may also be interested to look at) along the way.
  • Never have to update your Instagram bio link again
  • Never worry about a link breaking (you can update your Compiled links on the Update page at any time).
  • Compiled also allows you to feature a recent social media post: put the link to the post in the “featured post” box on the Update page. This can really highlight what you want your followers to understand about you or your brand
  • If a user finds an old post where you refer to a link, but your bio link has changed, you’ve lost out. Why not have all of the useful links you’ve referred to in posts, in your bio? Maybe even list them chronologically!
  • If you want to link your social media on a leaflet or brochure, but you have limited space, a Compiled link is the perfect non-intrusive solution.
  • Allows you to create a directory of official links, and stops people being fooled by imposter profiles on social media. Here’s a great example!
  • And many more…!

This list isn’t comprehensive and there’s always going to be a use for our free service. If you have an example of how you’ve used Compiled, please contact us and let us know!

Have a great day,

How to add multiple links to your Instagram bio?

It’s simple! And free.

You can create a modern landing page for all of your links using Compiled.Social. Instead of being restricted to just ONE link on your Instagram page, send your followers to multiple destinations. You can also feature a recent post from a social network of your choice, and much more. See an example below, or click here:

Bit too confusing? Let’s break it down.

  1. You create your own page here, entering some basic details and all of the links you’d like to direct your followers too.
  2. You can optionally add a featured post, change the background colour, enter a profile picture, and more! Click on the “Advanced Features” checkbox if you can’t find these options.
  3. When you add each link, you can give it a nice caption e.g. “My Website” or “Follow Us On Facebook”. A clean logo will be added to your links, too (as seen above).
  4. When you’re happy with how you’ve customised your page, click “Create”!
  5. You will be re-directed to your very own Compiled page. If you don’t like anything about it, you can change it at anytime using the “Update” page.
  6. Scroll to the bottom of the page, and you will see a box where you can copy your page’s link, or share it on social media.
  7. To use the link in your Instagram bio, click copy, then paste it into the “website” field of your Instagram page’s bio.
  8. There you have it, your Instagram followers can visit your Compiled page and decide which links they’d like to follow!

Have a great day
